About the college  

MS Ramaiah Medical College (MSRMC) came into existence in 1979 by Gokula education foundation. This private medical college got recognition from the Medical Council of India (MCI) and affiliation from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS). MSRMC offers degree for MBBS, MD, MS, DM, PG, super specialty, and Ph.D. courses, etc. Being one of the oldest institution, the aim of the college is to impart education beneficial for the future. They believe in creating medical leaders to ensure the best outcome. In 1984, the college built its own hospital by the name Ramaiah medical college hospital. It was done to ensure that locals could gain benefits of the medical facilities as well as to provide subsequent training to the medical students.  

MSRMC is one of the most preferred private medical college in India. Therefore, it ranks 16th among the medical colleges in India in India Today’s list and 19th on Outlook India’s list. Not only this but National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) has also ranked MSRMC 12th with respect to other medical colleges in India.  

Education  

This private medical college offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the field of medical and healthcare. The education offered in this college ensures that excellence is bestowed in the medical students. For the same reason, the foundation for the education is firmly rooted in basic science, clinical experience and in-depth research. It is reflected in the curriculum of the courses based on guidelines provided by the MCI and RGUHS.  

For undergraduate program, the focus is on progressive interactive learning formats. Class lectures, practical, seminars and group discussions also play a major role in the same. The faculty at MSRMC are encouraged to implement new learning methods in the class. The professors use a blend of e-learning modules along with self-assessment tests for students. Main concepts like scientific basis of medicine, patient care and essential skills for doctors are also part of the teaching methodology.  

For postgraduate program, the emphasis is on the bigger picture i.e. medical waste management,  hospital safety and safe medication communication. The doctors are trained for research methodologies and statistical analysis. It benefits them throughout the career. To ensure results on a broad spectrum, the college has various functioning departments. It includes biochemistry, anatomy, pharmacology, forensic medicine, general medicine, dermatology, radio diagnosis and so on.   

Healthcare  

As mentioned above, the hospital was founded in 1984. Since then, the aim of the hospital is to provide medical and healthcare facilities to patients across the country. It offers learning to undergraduate students and interns of MBBS and physiotherapy. It also host training programs for MD, MS and MPT doctors. MS Ramaiah medical college also provides super speciality facilities where they host training programs for DM and MCH residents.  

There are approx. 22 general specialities in the field of medical and allied, surgical and allied and OBG. Some of the super specialities offered in the hospital are oncology, surgical oncology, nephrology, urology, plastic surgery, neuro surgery, vascular surgery, cardiology and so on.  

Moreover, it is one of the only hospitals to promote ward for transgenders. MS Ramaiah hospital is also registered under various healthcare schemes to offer treatment at economical price to the patients.  

Location  

The campus is located on MSR nagar, Mathikere, Bangalore. You can easily get to a bus station or railway station as they are situated 30 minutes and an hour away, respectively. The Kempegowda international airport is a bit far from the college. You can either go to a bus station and then go to the airport or you can hire a cab.  

Eligibility and fee structure  

Before you learn about the admission procedure, you must know the eligibility criteria to study in this medical college. You must follow the below mentioned criteria to study MBBS in MS Ramaiah college 

For nationals 

  • You must have completed 17 years of age for the current academic year 
  • You must have passed 12th with at least 50% aggregate in physics, chemistry and biology  

For NRI or foreign nationals  

  • You must have completed 17 years of age for the current academic year 
  • You must have passed 12th with at least 50% aggregate in physics, chemistry and biology. Also, you must have studied English as a mandatory subject  
  • You should have all the necessary documents to prove your identity as NRI or foreign national. It includes passport, school certificate, work permit, etc.  
  • You must have received inward remittance certificate from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) 

To study MD/MS in MS Ramaiah medical college, you must fulfil the following criteria  

  • You must qualify NEET PG medical entrance test based on the college’s cut-off  
  • You must have received the degree for the undergraduate program from an affiliated university also approved by the MCI  
  • You should complete the compulsory rotating internship before March 31 for the year of admission

Amenities  

For comfort and easiness of students, gender segregated i.e. separate accommodation facilities for girls and boys are available. You can choose hostel rooms from single or double occupancy based on your choice. The rooms have bathrooms attached. The students are provided housekeeping facility and wi-fi subscription. Parents don’t need to worried about food availability. There are quite a few food joints available within the premises. It also offers mess facility so that students can get nutritious and balanced diet.  

For entertainment and fun, there is a common TV room. The college also has indoor and outdoor sports facilities for students.  

Admission procedure  

To acquire seat for MBBS/MD/MS/DM in MS Ramaiah medical college, you need to qualify the mandatory NEET UG and NEET PG medical entrance.  

For admission in MBBS  

  • For all medical seat in MS Ramaiah, including NRI/management quota, you must appear for the counselling conducted by Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) 
  • Followed by this, the admission process is completed based on your NEET UG score. Finally, a merit list will be introduced based on the category of the students 

Selected students will be called to complete the admission procedure.  

For admission in MD/MS 

  • For the PG program, the counselling is conducted by the Director General of Health Science (DGHS). If you qualify NEET PG, you need to register for this counselling procedure to get seat in MS Ramaiah
